Staff vs Students Soccer Team
Several times each year, GLC staff compete against the junior and intermediate teams. The entire school comes together to cheer on a team of their choosing!
2016 Terry Fox Run
Each year, students and staff participate with fellow Canadians to continue the fight against cancer. This includes classroom learning, fundraising and a whole-school walk.
Math Thinking
Using pattern blocks, students collaboratively explore attributes of shapes.
Cross-Country Running
Our first athletic event of the year is a favoured one amongst our students. Led by Ms. From, many runners have continued from our area run to the Thunder Bay regionals.
Grade 8 Technology
Students in Gr.4-8 are assigned yearly Chromebooks to complete all assigned work, extremely beneficial as we continue into our 21st Century of technology learning.
Buddy Reading
In various classes throughout the school, primary students are paired with older students, giving them more opportunities to read.
Student Writing
Students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 have daily opportunities to write, using various genres related to the Language Arts Curriculum.
2016 Remembrance Day
Grade 2/3s perform "Make Peace All Around the World" in our annual Remembrance Day ceremony.
School Spirit
GLC school spirit is present throughout all of our authentic learning opportunities . Students and staff take part in activities both at school and in the community.
Christmas Lunch
Every year the GLC students and staff have a Christmas lunch all together, one big happy family!
Hockey Academy 2017
New to GLC this year is the Hockey Skills Academy. This program is designed for the whole student and teaches students both skills and sportsmanship through the sport of hockey.
Winter Sliding
Once the snow is here, students love their recess sliding time!
Measurement in Kindergarten
Starting in Kindergarten, students are given daily opportunities to inquire about different math strands which lead to the discovery of possible solutions.
Weekly Composting
Student volunteers collect compost from our lunchrooms and prepare it for the composting bins. Soil is used in our gardens and flowerbed.
Recycling
Daily recycling makes us proud of being an Ontario Gold level Eco-school!
Kindergarten Visit to Heritage Centre
Kindergarten students travelled to Red Lake Heritage Centre to learn more about our environment.

Golden Learning Centre Public School is located in the mining community of Balmertown, Ontario.  Golden Learning Centre serves the communities of Balmertown, Cochenour, McKenzie Island, and the northern side of the Chukuni River subdivision.
